We Are Okay Here At Coastal Charm

I have received several comments and e-mails asking if my family is okay here in Alabama...yes...we are fine and thank you so much for thinking about us. I live on the Alabama coast and we had some bad weather, but we were never under a tornado warning..thank goodness. I knew that some really bad weather was coming to parts of my state, but I really didn't ever think it would be this bad. Strange thing is...all these tornado's hit in several cities, where I have family and friends, and they were in three different states. First hit was Preston, Mississippi (very rural area) where my parents are from, and where I have a uncle and aunt still living there...thank goodness they made it okay. Next it went on to Tuscaloosa, Alabama...where I have family and friends. My best friend (this is my friend that hosted Haley's shower at her home this month) has a 22 year old son that lives there (a jr.at UA) rode out the storm at a condo that only missed the storm by 400ft...this young guy was really scared and is still very upset about what all happened around him on Wednesday afternoon. He came home on Thursday, so he could get all his windows in his car replaced...yes...they were all blown out. Last year, he shared a house with another one of our friends son and that house is GONE...we are all so thankful, that they moved out of it last summer. Then another city hit was Birmingham, Alabama...we also have family and friends there too...they are all safe. It still wasn't over...the storms went on into Georgia and hit Ringgold...there I have a niece and her family (you might remember my mom and I visited them back in Feb.)...they stayed in their basement during the storm and are all safe. As I'm thinking back on this time, it's just so hard to believe that all of this happened in cities and towns where I have loved ones...thank you LORD for keeping them all safe. Please keep all the families that are hurting today in your prayers...prayer is so very powerful!
                                                         Blessings,
                                                           Linda
                                              These are the condos where
                                                  he rode out the storm.
Just look how close he was.
This was what he saw from the condo after
                                                    it was all over!
                                             Still can see the condos.
                                           Look at these young people,
                                          some living away from home
                                                    for the first time!

Now this pic really got to me since I have
a 21 year old daughter off at college...this
                                               could have been her.
HUG your kids and tell your family members
                                          how much you LOVE them,
                                         because you just never know!

Sunday Brunch At Blue Creek Home and Paris Porcelain

What a wonderful time Mr.CC and I had at a Sunday brunch at BLUE CREEK HOME. Rhonda and I have been visiting with each other thru our blogs for about 18 months now...so when Mr.CC and I planned a trip to the lake for a few days...we both knew it was time to meet up face to face. When I told Rhonda where we would be staying...she couldn't believe that we were only a mile from her home, so she offered to have us over for a Sunday brunch. Her daughter Alex loves to cook and we love to eat, so with that said, we were happy to try out all the delicious food that she whipped up for us. Now this girl is one outstanding cook, everything was sooooo good...looking forward to getting that awesome breakfast casserole recipe. Rhonda and her husband Al are both lovely people and Mr.CC and I felt like we had known them forever. All of us are HUGE AUBURN TIGERS FANS, so really we are already family (if you are not in the Auburn family...then you probably don't understand this). I'm hoping that all of us can get together in the Fall for some good ole AUBURN tailgating...know that will be a lot of FUN! Oh yes...I got to meet Rhonda's darling little grandson Mason...he is just a doll! I have been enjoying seeing all the cute pics of him on Rhonda's blog, so when I found out that he would there, I was really excited. Blue Creek Home is beautiful on her blog, but it's even prettier in person...Rhonda has great taste and a talent for decorating and it shows. Last week at NIFTY THRIFTY TUESDAYS, I told all of you about her new thrifty party and I hope you all got a chance to go by and party with her...so speaking about this new party...today I'm going over there and sharing my new thrifty treasure...it's my "Paris Porcelain" vase. I found this vase at garage sale last Saturday, with it's $5.00 price tag, I knew she was mine! I have found one a lot like mine on e-bay for $40.00, so I pleased with my purchase. Do you own any "Paris Porcelain"?  This is my first piece, but it just might not be my last one. Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays is still going on and you can link up here.
                                                 Happy that you came by
and I hope you have a
                                                              fun day,
                                                               Linda

I wasn't kidding...look at this beautiful mantel display at
                                                BLUE CREEK HOME!
Love this display of seashells and antlers...want to
see more? Hop on over for a visit and please tell
                                               Rhonda that I said HELLO!
If I say so myself...I think she is
                                                  soooooo PRETTY!!!
Just look at all her details!

Here she is with a few vintage napkins
that I also found at the same
                                                          garage sale.
I always like adding more napkins to my
                                                           collection.

Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays No.60

Oh my...what a wonderful Easter we had here at COASTAL CHARM...hope all of you had a blessed Easter too. Both of my daughters were here with us and that made for a special time...I love it when the four of us can be together and hang out. Did any of you get out and do some thriftin'? Mary Claire and I hit a couple of garage sales Saturday morning on our way to the flea market. Our purpose on going to the flea market was to buy 10...yes 10 ferns for Haley's wedding...when our florist told me that he rented his ferns for $15 each...I knew then that I would be buying them from the garden man for only $10 each...then when the wedding is over...I will be giving them to friends and family. My mom and sister are helping me out by keeping two each until the wedding...thank you ladies...this is a huge help! I thought I would share with you some of my THRIFTY flowers that I posted last week at NTT with you today...they are all planted and looking good. I also bought a few more plants at the flea market...sent some home with Mary Claire for her condo and added the rest around here. Now about my luck that I had at the garage sales...I found a pretty "Paris Porcelain" vase...vintage 50's tablecloth...a bamboo easel and some pretty white vintage linen luncheon napkins to add to my collection. Okay now it's time to see what you have to share this week...so link right up...then fix you a tall glass of lemonade and visit around with the other party gals here at NTT. Now you all know that a party is NO FUN...unless you mingle around and meet some new friends...so go on and have some FUN...now do be sure to tell them that you found them at NIFTY THRIFTY TUESDAYS...thanks ladies:)
                                               Thanks so much for coming
and I hope to see you here
                                                              again,
                                                              Linda

Here we are on Good Friday and I'm still changing things up around here...somebody please stop me! My Easter vignette in the foyer just needed a little fluffing and I love to fluff...how about you? So what should I do? I will add my vintage wicker funeral basket to the scene...it will serve as my Easter basket. Now Mr.CC has never really understood my love for these baskets...honey these are for funerals...why do you want a FUNERAL basket in our home? Because I like them...'nuff said! I hope each and every one of you have a blessed Easter...remember this...he died for us...he rose up from the grave and he is waiting for us!

Lovin' my newest addition here at Coastal Charm...whatcha think? It got even better when I got to the check-out and it was 50% off...yes this cutie was only $4.98! Now let's take a look at what I did with it for now...you never know...next week you might find her in a bathroom with a guest towel and some soaps.

Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays No.59 and a Invite to a NEW PARTY

I love to get a great deal and a couple of weeks ago...Home Depot was running a 4 day special on some garden items that I already had on my shopping list, so off I went to get me some bargains. They had just the right plants that I wanted for all my window boxes and flower pots...they were only .49 cents. We also loaded up on the mulch that we put in our flower beds...it was 50% off...$1.38/bag! I had a $10.00 off coupon from Lowe's (yes...they take Lowe's coupons)...so it really was like getting 20 free plants for my yard...can't go wrong with FREE!!! I still need a few more plants, so I will head out to our local flea market in a few weeks to get more...they have really great prices on plants too. I really never read the Home Depot and Lowe's ads, but after finding this ad, I will be checking them out more often. Link up and let's all see what incredible deals you found lately. Before you go, I want to invite all of y'all to a fun new THRIFTY PARTY called TREASURE HUNT THURSDAY...it's hosted by my friend Rhonda over at BLUE CREEK HOME. The party starts up on Wednesday nights and goes on for a few days, so please be sure to go by this week and join in on all the fun going on over there and tell her that I sent you by...click here to find her blog.
